Microsoft Inspire: The Impact of Digital Transformation on Cloud Sales

Microsoft Inspire took place last week and gathered thousands of Microsoft employees and industry experts from 140 countries in D.C. for a full week of learning. The conference delivered on its promise of meaningful networking, important technology conversations and of course some fun.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella focused in his day-one keynote on digital transformation and the infusion of artificial intelligence (AI) as it becomes intrinsic in every application experience. These two topics continue to dominate the technology world, as evidenced by last year’s conference. The takeaway this year was the profound impact digital transformation can have on companies, economies, and our societies.

Nadella also encouraged Microsoft partners to seize the opportunity to address four key outcomes of digital transformation: empower employees, engage customers, optimize operations, and transform products. To that end, Microsoft is evolving its products to help businesses realize the modern workforce including connected and automated business applications.

Nadella shared the example that we can encourage customers to deploy new business applications or replace them when appropriate, but we can also reframe the experience for a customer. A customer with a CRM system from the past that does sales management can digitally transform that application to do social selling today.

Microsoft announced a new organization, One Commercial Partner, built on three primary functions: Build-With, Go-to-Market, and Sell-With. At the forefront of this digital transformation, N3 has been aligning our Cloud Partner Enablement strategies around these foundational elements through our Cloud Sales, Technical Support, and Demand Generation capabilities.

Microsoft also announced Microsoft 365, a set of commercial offerings that addresses the need for integration by bringing together Office 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security. This offering is relevant cross-industry, with a primary focus on Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail, Education, Health and Government – split across Enterprise and SMC (Small, Medium, Corporate).
